WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?

Hey gang,

I am interested in seeing what my fellow Rhode Island members are working on?

Peronally I am currently working on my 1956 F100, and a 1978 F250 4x4 Supercab.

I also have an 86 Ford Ranger Xcab 2wd with a 5.0, and two 1984.5 Mustang GT's, one hatch and one convert both 5spd both 5.0. And of course my Daily driver, 2004 SD Xcab 4x4 and the wife has a 02 Ford Explorer.

It's safe to say I am a FORD NUT!

Hi Tom, sounds like you really have a lot going on! I currently have just my truck, a 2001 F250 CC, SB, 4x4, Platinum Edition. I've had it since early '09 and I love it! Aside from that, I enjoy my motorcycle when ever I can. My son does however have a 93 Mustang GT that's in great shape, aside from the motor, but that's about to change as well. As for being a 'Ford nut', I've only ever owned one vehicle that wasn't a Ford (aside from my bike), my son is on his 4th Mustang at the age of 21, and my 19yo daughter drives an Explorer, which she calls "Dora".......even my mother drives a Lincoln LS!

We will have to meet up sometime, I would love to see some of your projects, and I'm sure my son would also.

The 56 is going to be a Rat Rod as I dont have the funds to go through the truck completely. I have allways loved these trucks and when I was practically given one for some work I did I couldnt refuse.

I have been working on the wiring mess for the last few weekends. Trying to get all the bugs worked out. I have it all figured out and just have to button up a few connections. The headlights and markers have been installed but I dont have a picture on me right now.

I have to fab up some new bed supports as the truck was a 8' bed chassis, and I chopped off a foot or so of chassis to fit a 6' bed. And I will have to move the rear fenders back about 8 inches to get the wheels centered in the fender opening.

It will not be a queen of the show, but it will be drivable. Originalish 272ish engine with a 4 spd on the floor. ISH is because the engine has a rebuild tag on it that says it was bored .30 over.

1978 F250

I just got a 1978 F250 that I have been looking for, searching for 4 years and finally found one that had a good frame and support points. I will be looking here for lots of input and advice. Been 3 weeks since i brought it home and now the hood and doors are off, but cant seem to find all the bolts for the grille to remove (has a 1977 grille for some reason). Hopefully post pics soon.

Thanks,
John - RI chapter member

Here is a picture of my 1986 Ranger. Its a 5.0 with a C-4 trans. Lowered 3" in the front and 4" in the back. 92 Explorer limited bumper and Ranger STX grill.

Could really use a paint job, but I have allways liked the primered look !!

I have my 1989 F350 that I'm in the process of making into a mobile welding rig for a side business. So far I have the truck, utility body, and a miller trailblazer all waiting to be assembled. Plan is for this fall to paint the utility body (9' Knapehiede), then mount on the truck. So far the only problem with the truck is the throw out bearing is starting to squeal and the speedo gear is shot, so, I'll be pulling the tranny sometime soon to fix those problems...oh, and its in need of a coolant change and power steering top-off, but those are easy fixes.

Hey all! My 93 F150 went through a lot of repairs last fall, so I haven't really done much to it. It's my work truck, and winter vehicle, and has been very reliable. It needs some stuff, that I'll chip away at as I have time/funds. The list: timing chain and gears, windshield, cab mounts (not looking forward to this at all!), front shocks, rotors and pads, new side tank, or swap to a 38 gallon rear tank, and either bed repair or replacement. Heck of a lot shorter list than I had last year!

I also have a 92 SHO that I bought in pieces and put together a couple of years ago. I don't drive it much, but I'm always tinkering with it.

Hello,
I bought a 1956 F100 back in Oct. and discovered these forums while googling trucks.Lots of great info and people on here. The truck is a unrestored driver.272 yblock with a 3 speed. I'm going to upgrade the brake lines and put a dual master in and I need to have the original Ford stromburg type carb rebuilt. Once the snow is gone, I can drive it more and see what it might need.
My DD is a 2002 SVT Lightning.I'm shopping around for a 2011 SVT Raptor also, so I'm sure I'll be jumping all around these forums gathering info. I havent figures out how to put pics in the garage yet, but I have a few in my album. If you guys have a spring get together, it'll be nice to meet you guys.

Hello R.I. ... You guys still around? It's been a year since anyone posted. Any progress on your projects? I finally found a new carb for my '56 and it runs great. I put new brake lines and a dual master cyl. so it should be ready for cruising. I'll probably tow it down to the F100 Supernationals in Tennessee this spring. I got rid of the Lightning and found a used '11 SVT Raptor F150. It's a better tow vehicle and is real comfortable on long trips. That's about it with my trucks... what about you guys?

No, I don't go to NEIT. I live in town, though. When are all of these RI truck guys gonna wake up and maybe have gathering? Winter's over... Lets get cruisin! It would be nice to meet others with similar interests.
