i am having a similar problem...

i have read many many many threads similar also...
i know that mark and benny are all over on here and im sure they have seen all these similar threads as well...

guys what i am seeing as a pattern with all of these threads and my expierience also is that it seems to happen after an oil change.. and most people are staying with OEM oil filter.. i wonder if it may be related to the oil changing... like maybe going from syn to conv or something idk... just a thought

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

For example the 6.0 fuel & oil filters are manufactured by Racor for Ford.

Therefore Motorcraft or Raycor are considered OEM.

Donaldson manufactures the air filters

Don't forget International/Navistar. The 6.0L is a Navistar designed & built engine.

the AM filter companies have made a mess of thing thats for shure

and what you have to watch is when folks put a AM filter on they change the oil filter cap to accomodate it too.

so then if your a 2nd owner you have no idea and you cant tell a OEM cap from AM cap and once the AM cap is on any filter will fit but wont filter the oil right and trashes the IPR silinoid

WRONG OIL FILTER CAP CAUSING UNFILTERED OIL TO TAKE OUT THE IPR

Sorry for the gap in time. I have replaced and trouble shooted a few things.
rfilters both fuel filters, cam sensor, crankshaft sensor.
unplugged icp, ebp and the problem still exist.

After replacing the cam and crankshaft, the chugging is gone, but seems like truck is surging more and definitly started surging/reving at idle now.

Like i said above, the ficm was replaced a week ago, along with an oil change, and put some fuel additive in twice now.

2 different computers read no codes, truck is displaying no other troubles. Great starts, no smoke, no lack of power.

Really getting annoyed.

Is the surging somewhat consitant? Ie driving at X RPM it surges at a consistant tempo? does the surging speed up or slow down with RPM? sounds like a possible injector pump or a injector.

What type of code reader are you using? This is where I disagree with Ford's thinking...but it's too late to do anything about it...an AE with Ford Enhanced Bundle type of reader is what you need to really find the issue. These trucks will throw codes for all kinds of things...but I'd say most of them can't be read with a generic code reader.

Did you pull and clean the EGR valve?

Not sure on type of readers, but im pretty sure theres a code now. Died twice at idle and bucked/jerked real bad to where the engine light came on. Pulled over and it died at idle. Restart turned around went home, never chugged hiccupped or revved itself. Engine light is on.

The engine missing is the only relative system to when the egr valve went out a year ago. Will check it tho.

Going to put the scanner on tmwr. Meanwhile could it be tps?

Almost sounds like the ICP is giving you greif...but there's are other things. A good code reader/scanner will make the difference. I'm not sure where your from...but you might check your state's FTE Chapter and see if there is someone near you that has an AE, maybe even able to find someone that's PSD savy and able to help you out.

A cleaning on the EGR valve should make a difference...especially if it's sooted up real bad.

Wiggle wires while the engine is running. You might find a bad electrical connection.
