I hit a supercab Toyota with my pete dump plow truck in the blizzard of 2010
He tried to come through the plow caravan, I was truck 2. he hit the plow berm from truck 1, and went sideways, got caught in my plow at 35 mph. He scooted sideways, the plow got him, and I started pushing him down the road sideways.. I watched the glass pop out first, then the truck folded up just like that one.
He shot out when I got stopped.
we all watched in amazement when he took off, and went on down the road
about 2 weeks later, one of the other driver's yelled to me on the cb
Look what's coming up on your left
It was that Toyota all bent up with trash bags taped to all the windows that had popped out

GM & Dodge (RAM)...ICK....have been doing it for years on their "electronically" controlled transfer cases.
Ford enabled flat towing of the F150 ESOF 4x4 since 2012....and now (finally) beginning in 2017 the super duty ESOF's can be flat-towed.

all the switch is doing is automating what the cable does....of course there are vac hubs etc that also get "automated" w/ the ESOF that aren't available in a LEVER version.
