i picked up this set of leafs for the back of my truck out of a bronco. they are a 5leaf set and mine are a 4 leaf set. they should fit without issues, my question is on the leafs themselves there is the "clamp" on the front side of the leafs holding them together but on the back side there is only a strap on one of them...
i looked around the junk yard while i was there and a lot of the trucks didn't have any on the back side just on the front... but there was a few with ones on the back as well.....
so my question... do i remove the little strap on the backside to make them the same or do i try and find a clamp somewhere to make them the same? I'm not sure what to do here..... my truck doesn't have any on the rear now.
Why did you go with bronco leafs.
In my experiance they are weak and saggy.
I usually get springs from an s10 (sorry guys) because they are really arched (I see you were thinking of lifting/leveling the truck in your build thread). They are fairly long and I needed to cut them shorter to fit in my explorers and jeeps I build.
Keep the stock main leaf in your truck and add the s10 springs and keep the /longest lower leaf to limit flex. I'm guessing you'll go up at least an inch maybe two.
Just measure the second leaf in your truck and if he main of the s10 springs can be cut to that long they will work. May need to drill the centerbolt hole. The Chevy uses 3/8
Don't know what you mean by specs
All I know is they are 2.5 wide and 3/8 centerbolt hole that's off center front/back
They raise a Cherokee like 6-7" and an explorer about 3"
In Maine all the broncos sag in the rear. I've never seen one that didnt drag it's butt on the ground. That's why I made that comment. As far as the strap, try to reuse it if you can. Very nice to have.
