today my 96 f150 was running fine and then it was acting like it wasnt getting any gas
i let it set for a while the went to drive it was all good then it did it again this time i switched to the rear tank & it runs fine fine on the rear tank ???
thx noel
One filter, on the frame rail next to the front tank. I'd bet your front pump is on its way out. How does it start on the front pump after it sits overnight or for an extended period of time?
If you run the truck low on fuel often, I'd put money on that front pump going out. Best way to diagnose is check fuel pressue at the fuel rail (driver side rail, there is a shraeder valve to connect a gauge to). I'm not sure on this but I think you want 38psi+ at idle. Could always check it on both pumps and if the front is lower than the rear you know its going bad/is bad.
Sound like the fuel pump going out. My front tank done that as well, sometimes you would be going along fine then act like it was running out of gas then pick back up again, and it would run just fine off the rear tank. It finally got to the point the only time I could run the front tank is if I was just cruising at speed, then it finally quit all together.
thx for replys this seems like a common problem with the front tank i wonder why, but anyhow fuel pump it is, any one have any suggestions on what brand or where to buy
why is always in the cold *** winter ?????
thx noel
