Anybody built their own tow dolly?
Just curious how it turned out, approximate cost, etc.
I already own a tow bar, and I am thinking that for a couple hundred bucks I can get the material together to build a dolly that can mount to the tow bar; but then if I just need the tow bar I can remove it and leave the dolly sit.
Opinions are always welcome.

If it were me I would look at your local U-haul and see if they have any of the Gray tow dollies up for sale. That dolly will handle most larger rigs and when they sell they are only 3-700 bucks depending on shape of tires and what not. That is my .02 best of luck in your venture. Happy Trucking.

Yup
I used an old house trailer axle and some 3" channel triangulated for tongue and same channel for tires to sit on with plywood across
Works well for cars. Probably do it differently now, but I built it in a hurry when I was 19.
Just make sure your welds are good. My father owned a welding shop at the time and wouldn't let anything out unless it was quality.
