Strut Replacement, 04 Expedition, 99k miles
2004 Expedition, XLT Sport 4WD, 99k miles...light duty, no towing...
Planning to change all four struts, using Monroe Quick Strut (comes with Sensatrac shock). Had great success/results with same change on 2005 AWD Escape, 77k miles (also changed sway bar links, tie rod ends, four-wheel alignment).
Price of four Quick Struts from Advance Auto Parts was highly competitive, new year special discount 20% ($50 max), $50 coupon for future purchase, free shipping to home.
Decided to create new thread to aid in Forum Search results...easy way to read up, versus finding thread(s) and scrolling endlessly.
Anyone know the size of the nut(s) on large bottom bolts?
Looks like I need a deep socket due to bolt protrusion through the nut.
Ford-parts.com shows the bolt/nut is M20 but I think that is the "bolt size", not the head or nut size...thanks.
Will report back final outcome of DIY strut project.
Thank you Forum, really enjoy this resource for my (3) Ford vehicles.

Job done. Physically demanding. On front, had to remove wishbone nut and drop hub to get strut out of top mount, just not enough room to wiggle it around and out... On back, had to remove alignment tie rod for same reason. Nuts on top of back struts came loose easily but poor access, had to use only 15mm open/box end wrench, slow and painful. New sway bar links and tie rod ends just arrived, they're next, then alignment, will be done.

All parts replaced. Sway bar links and outer tie rod ends done. Easy job.
Disappointed with MOOG replacement parts - said "exact fit"...grease fittings are not designed/placed for "exact fit". Had to run to auto store in the middle of the job to get 90 degree zerks for both sway bar links (top zerk) and passenger outer tie rod end.
Will give one final report after 4-wheel alignment today. Thank you Forum.
