82k upgrades, fixes, mods to make 200k
Hi all -
Happy new year! I have a 2003 f250 in great condition, 82k miles and I usually trade trucks @ 100k but this time around due to the state of the economy it looks like this truck is going to be making the run for 200k.
The truck is bone stock under the hood.
I recently did the icp sensor and an injector, and was wondering what the collective brain that is this board would consider the best bang for the buck and what should be done to make the 200k mark.
I use the truck as a semi-daily driver and to haul a large horse trailer, 16k, quite a bit.
Thanks All,
T

Well number 1 and most important is religious and consistent maintenance. I would consider a coolant filter as well. Make sure you have, or do yourself, a very good coolant flush first. Gauges as well, but I see them on your list. Talk to Matt at Gearhead about your SCT tunes and don't worry about studs...

Keep it stock. My 2003 has 150K on it. I have gauges: EGT, Trans, boost. a bypass coolant filter from Dieselsite, a bypass oil filter from Frantz. I installed a Magnifine inline filter on the PS return and replaced the fluid with Dex VI.
I used to have injector sticktion in the morning, but after using Rev-x at the beginning of last winter, its gone.
I change the coolant +flush with distilled every 3 years.
My truck has all of the original parts except for the EGR valve which I replaced just for kicks last year.
