I have 3 glow plugs that are reading infinite resistance with an ohm meter. I am going to replace them. Is wise to replace the valve cover gaskets even if they are not leaking? How tough is it to get the passenger side vc off? It looks like a bear!!

 

if you're careful you can resuse them,i have had my valve covers off many times and still have the stock ones,just make sure to clean the mateing surfaces really good,and i always use a very thin coating of RTV to tack them down

 

I'm still using my factory ones. The gaskets are rubber and can be re-used with no problems. I've never used RTV with mine, just put them in place and tighten the all the bolts down.

 

Same thing for me. I'm still on the stockers and have never used Rtv.

 

i just like the added comfort of the RTV,mine are plastic with a rubber seal inlaid,but yeah you can reause them
