not real impressed with bilsteins

my original 12 year old shocks still had pressure and did not leak . i changed them any way due to age. thinking the bilsteins were a very well made shock i went with them well its been six months and one frt one just gave out! oil pouring out big spots on the shop floor . trying to find the receipt but not real happy they weren't cheap .

With those 2 places to choose from, does it really matter...

Don't really like mine either. I like the Ranchos much better.

Sucks that one of your shocks quit on you. Ive had bilstiens on my truck for a few years now with no problems, also replaced my leaf springs shortly after doing shocks. Hopefully you get it replaced with out any trouble.

I was thinking about getting bilstiens. Has anyone else had any problems with them? Maybe it was just a bad batch? Just curious.

I've had my Bilsteins for a few years without any issues. I'd contact them and see what they say.

I've had the same set of Bilsteins on for probably 5 years, only complaint is with their boot down design and all the dirt roads I travel the boots work off the shock body and I've had to clean dirt and mud out of the back shock boots and put them back in place twice. Other than that, awesome shocks.

did you double zip tie them? i prefer the boot down to boot up to help keep water away from the shock seal......boot up always has problems on my excursion.....

I replaced my originals due to age too. I drive pretty easy so I don't ever really put the shocks to the test. The only thing I noticed is a set of RR tracks I cross I bottom out with the Bilsteins where the originals did not.
