I got a lift
#121
OK, I have Ilya at 8, Ross at 9. Jeff, since you're closer I can be a little more flexible, any time next week is good.
I already have my son's car up on the lift, my oldest's truck has to have some brake work done, my daily driver truck has issues with the front end, I think it's the shocks and I still have to get the wife's gas tank installed.
When I told my wife I was going to buy the lift she asked if I thought I'd get my use out of it. What do you all think?

My son and I spent the last day and half working on his car. We replaced the struts, wheel bearing hubs, tie rod ends and ball joints on both sides of his car. He also replaced the broken rear parking brake cable. I did all of this on my wife's car a couple of months ago using my floor jack and car stands. I have a good base for comparison, let's just say there was no comparison. I have to strongly agree with every one who has said they can't figure out they were able to work on their vehicles without a lift for this long.
I thought I loved my car trailer but now it's got competition for my love. It's only taken me almost 50 years to get these toys but they are well worth.
I don't really love inanimate objects but the feeling is close.

Well, it's been six months since I bought the lift and about four since we got it up and operational. The lift is worth every penny I paid for it and then some. It's paid for itself already. I am sure I've saved at least $2000 by not having to pay some one else to do the we've done with it. I've replace brakes on three of our daily drives, a set of brakes for a customer of mine. I'm not in the auto repair business but it never hurts to help out a major customer. We've also changed shocks and struts on all of our cars and trucks. Currently I'm replacing the broken front spring on my F-2, next the steering box and an overall going over to make sure it's road worthy for the trip down to KY for Truckstock 2012.
Oh yeah, my knees and back thank me too. Nothing like working eye level with parts under the vehicle.

I have to agree. I use mine all of the time. The older I get, the more valuable it becomes. I don't miss laying on my back and getting falling debris in my eyes.
