Need some Oil Cooler Help
Hey guys, I was having some problems putting my oil cooler back together so I decided that I should have international do it and it would be done correctly and hopefully not have a problem for another 18 years or whatever it's been. However, they called me today saying that there was quite a bit of corrosion on the inside of the oil cooler header and there is also a chip missing on the edge of the header. They said that they could still do the repair, but they recommended that I look for another unit. So I was wondering if any of you guys knew of anyone selling a spare oil cooler header or entire unit, and what would I be looking at for price.
Thanks,
Matt Benzik

If you price new, be sitting down, they aren't cheap from what has been discussed on here before.
Which header do you need , the front one, or the rear one with the oil filter mount?
Depending on the chip, corrosion etc, it may be possible to repair/improve on what you have. They appear to be aluminum, so it might be possible to weld it, or fill the corroded area with something like JB weld to smooth up the pitting.
There are likely some guys on here that have used ones they may part with, right now it's something I don't have any extras of myself.

Yes, coolers are the same. The one I replaced on my buddies truck was HORRIBLE. His is a 6.9, I took a spare I had laying around that was off of a 7.3 and it worked just fine. What do the OBS Strokes use? I would think that the OBS Strokes would even work. Any one care to educate me on this?

You can't use any F-series oil cooler on an E-series van, or vise versa. Same goes for the drivers side manifold. That's really the 2 only differences really between the van and truck IDI.
That, and the van engine has the fuel filter head on the drivers side, but that doesn't make a difference on a truck, only if you was to put a truck engine into a van, you'd also have that to change.
