93 302 F150 GT40 Intake swap questions

I want to put a GT40 intake off of a mountaineer onto my 93 F150. I want to know if the wiring harness will make it to all the sensors on the new manifold. Also, is it easier to put it on with the throttle body facing the drivers side, like a 5.0 Lincoln or to the passenger side like a mustang. I have all the intake parts and sensors off of a fox body mustang to use for the swap, just want to know if everything will line up correctly. I think the computer is still an EECIV so that should still be the same. Also, its a 5spd truck. And the manifold hasnt been tapped for the ACT sensor. Any input, pictures, or links to the swap would be helpful. Google search has been relatively unsuccessful. thanks!

What heads and cam are you going to use?

Intake to the drivers side will be easier to setup.
Drill and tap a hole in the same place the IAC sensor is on the truck intake.
You will need a throttle cable from an Explorer or the means to modify the throttle brackets to use a truck cable.
No need to change the ECU for this intake so hopefully that's not your intention.

But after all that work you're gonna end up with an intake that is actually no better than the stock truck setup... actually a little worse since it has less throttelbody and more restrictive lower ports, so I gotta ask why you're doing this.

Heads and cam will stay stock for the moment. Im looking for a set of GT40 heads to match the intake to make the intake worthwhile. Conanski, I've read that the shorter runner length of the GT40 and stock mustang manifold yield lower torque numbers than the stock truck manifold. My goal with the truck is to put the GT40 top end on it and basically have a cobra top end. I'd like to make as much horsepower as possible rather than torque, because I have no intentions of hauling or pulling anything with the truck. I have a set of Hooker headers for the truck also and am working on the rest of the exhaust for it. Also, with the intake I plan on clearing up some space in the engine bay, as i'm used to working on mustangs, and it will be a lot easier for me.

I've also read that port matching the intake to the heads and cleaning up the exhaust ports will make for better flow. As with anything, i'm sure it will help. I just wasn't sure if everything with the sensors/harness would line up for the manifold swap, hence, this post. Also, the EGR system will be removed, as well as the AC. In Franklin County Pennsylvania, i am not subject to emissions so this will help me get rid of everything thats not totally necessary. Any other advice or insight on doing it?

There isn't much difference in total runner length between the car and truck intakes... maybe an inch or two.. so you won't see a dramatic difference in the powerband all else being equal. Have you ever seen a 5.0 truck intake off the engine? If not you're gonna be surprised... it's very well designed with large rectangular ports and the lower portion in particular is quite a bit better than the Explorer design which is squashed down for hood clearance. The Explorer intake does have pretty good performance potential with some straightening of the lower ports and it performs well up to 5000rpm or so and produces good midrange TQ so it's not a half bad intake either. What your motor needs more than anything though is a better cam, there are several aftermarket cams that will work with your trucks SD system and the Mustang cam will too of course, and all of these will produce quite a bit more topend HP than the currect bumpstick your motor has.

The truck intake is designed for low end torque already so, in my mind, you're going through alot of work to actually hurt your performance. Us early Bronco guys like the GT-40s as it increases our low end torque over a stock CAR intake and still clears the hood. Longer intake runners (truck manifold) = more low end torque! If we could run a truck intake we would! I'd look at a cam and heads and keep your truck intake if it were me... but it's not... Money better spent elsewhere on your current engine in pursuit of performance vice the cost and pains of swapping intakes.

You can move the ACT sensor from the intake manifold to the intake tube with a kit from interactive systems.
