What are used zf-5s worth?

Thinking of selling the parts from my plow truck. She's a good truck but the frame is toast and it has a awesome bed, doors, and fenders that would be great replacements for the idi. Gauging what i should sell it for. $500 minimum is my guess. This is a 4x4 small block pattern zf-5. Works great but I've only ever used 1st, 2nd, and reverse. I may also keep it too use in something in the future as getting a running truck with one of these is very hard around here.

$500 would probably be a stretch for a used tranny. Even though you know its in good condition and works it still doesn't have any type of warranty. I had a 2wd ZF5 that I sold this summer for $250, and that was after having it on craigslist and pirate for over a year, I just had to wait for someone who knew what it was and how rare it was to buy it. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

Advertise it on classicbroncos.com. You'll have $500 cash in your hand by this evening for that tranny! Us Early Bronco guys drool over those to swap into our EBs and mate up to our SBF engines.

It seems like different areas of the country will bring different prices for these parts. I ended up paying $600 for a ZF5/ t-case that was guaranteed to be a good unit, that was about 1.5 years ago. I've seen ads for just a tranny with a $600-700 price and the ads seem to go away after only a few days. By the same token, I had a factory Ford remanned E40d w/ all of the paper work including a new converter that only had about 5000 miles on it, I had a hard time getting $500 for it.

You just have to put a price on it and wait for someone to come looking. If you sense that the buyer is serious and has the cash with them, you make the decision right on the spot if you will sell it for a lower than advertised price or if you want to pass and wait for another fish to come by.

Supply and demand dictates price. I have seen some for sale for a LONG time for 100 and I have some sell in 10 minutes of posting for 800.

Around me small block ones are a hard sell. Big block and diesels are a little better

Why not just have new syncors put in. They are only like $150 plus labor
