I use a switch in the Chrysler overhead console I installed to operate them separately from the parking lights and the center console taps power from the mounting flange of the original, mostly useless interior light that the console covers.

Hey Frederic, have a comment and question. I'm going to do an install of the lights and had also planned on doing the turn signal flash as you initially did. So you got enough reflection on the hood that you went back original non-flash? I hadn't thought of that. What Chrysler overhead console is that you're using? It may be too long for my regular cab but I thought I'd find one and measure it and see, unless you'd give me the length on yours. May be better if I just add a short Explorer console.

Just get some bullet connectors and put them on your harness. Then it will plug into your stock harness. OR get a cab light harness from a 92-97 truck

Thanks for the write up Brad.
I'm on the fence about adding them to my truck but at least I know how to do it if I do go for it.

Great write up, I should send it to the PO of my truck as he hacked up my truck to install the cheapo ones that take in water and blow bulbs all the time. I would change them out but don't want more holes in my roof.

I know this post is as old as the hills... but just wondering if you did order those lights for that price and if so, were they the real deal?

I've got a line on a used harness, but thinking I might buy a full set of new lights... No way I'm paying 50 bucks a light from ford though, and no one else seems to carry Truck-Lite around here...

Yep, those are the ones I'm talking about. Went ahead and ordered a set, but just realized that it doesn't say whether they come with gaskets or not...

Anyone know if they do?

I talked with Brad about that a few weeks ago. They do include new gaskets that are bonded with the lights.

used the ford lights on my 97, paid almost 140 bucks for set of five even with my discount.

then once brad told me about the ryder ones we used them for the 84 build, bought a nos harness and pigtails from ford.

needless to say the ryder ones are the exact same, in quality and appearance.

I just installed mine this past weekend and they look great! thanks for the plans Brad. And ya, drilling the first hole is definenatly the scariest thing. I installed mine in such a way that to turn them on you pull the light lever half way out for the front running lights, and then you flip a switch that installed beside my overdrive button. very impressed with the look.

BIGGreen350, what were the part numbers and the sources for the Nos wiring harness and pig tail harnesses? Looking to piece this job together.
