headlight wiring question. Which is high and which is low beam?

Then of course at least one cheap manual for each vehicle owned that includes full wiring diagrams in it, full "color" diagrams are nice yea but not necessary. Oh and a good magnifying glass to read em with! (no, in my younger day I didn't need such a thing)

the issue with the multimeter is the wiring is half done when I realized I need to know which is which on the lights and the ground is still disconnected from the battery. It would probably be fine to reconnect for a quick test but last time I did that I blew all the fuses in what I was adding...
Yeah I really should get a manual for the truck, Maybe I'll ask ms clause. In the meantime thanks all.

Gotta have a road map figure out whats going on and whats what on em!
"ms clause" yup first thing I say when we buy a new ride bring it home.
"Gotta get a manual for it". First time ya fix one, need and use it to do so? well that right there pays for the manual couple times over easy right there.

Thanks all. The lights work. I have however found that the highbeam green/black line has 12V in it when the DRL's are running. Looking at DRRXR's diagram that makes sense but is kind of a pain in the butt. Basically it means I should have tapped the indicator light I suppose. It's not a biggy as I'll leave the driving lights off during the day anyway.

Just a note, but depending on how much added draw you're putting on the system, you might want to be careful. There's a lot heat generated by the wiring for the headlights as-is, and it's a common cause of the headlight switch going bad. If you plan on adding lights in parallel with the headlights, I would look at a separate relayed lighting harness like this one from RJM.

I did use relays. the relays is connected to switches which draw power from the high and low beams. The new lights are wired to the relays and the relays draws power directly from the battery.
This way the current drawn from the headlight wires and going through the switches should be minimal but the fogs only work when the low beams are on and the switch is on and the driving lights should only work when the high beams are on (except they also work when the driving lights are on)
This makes them legal and I won't leave them on accidentally unless I leave the main headlights on... which reminds me I need to figure out why I don't get a buzzer/beep when the lights are on but the key is off. I think a previous owner disabled it.

Just me or is that a rather goofy diagram?
Couple things about it shrike me as odd, first one is DLR's. Here in the US (here in the US this series has no dlr's, least I've never seen one with them) Day light running lights are just that, "on" during the day no way to turn them off IE; if the engine is running/key is in the "run" position they are "on". All models have no provision to turn them off, common on every car here after a given model year, I do not know exactly what year it was mandated off top of my head though.
Next thing I find odd is the High beam indicator on the dash, according to it there isn't one when the vehicle is equipped with DLR's.
That diagram shows them connected to the low and high beam circuits suggesting the DLR lights are on when/if the headlights are on, off when they are not.
Guess here but only reason I can think of is part of that diagram not shown by DRRXR, the section with the DLR's? perhaps?
According to that anywhere strider3700 taps the high beam circuit to power the relay for his aux lighting, the DLR's will be on at the same time, doesn't sound like that is what he wants based on statement in post #8.
So is that right, the dlr's are controlled by the main light switch, turned off and on with the head lights?
