I know many on here are disappointed that Ford did not include or manufacture a winter front for the 2011+ . I've complained for some time and last night I was finally motivated to do something about it since it was 15 F outside and after 15 miles, my truck still never reached full operating temperature (180 is the best it did).

I used to own a 6.4 and I kept the winter front for that truck. I saw Epic's video (thank you!) for removing the grill and I decided to do just that.

That I had the grill off, I wanted to see if I could make my 6.4 cover work on the 6.7. I figured I had nothing to lose and everything to gain!
So, I took the grill off and laid the old cover on the front of the grill. I fished through all of the hooks through the grill.

You can see what I did with the clips here:

I bent the velcro tabs around the edges of the grill like this

Fished the bottom tabs through the grill and bent them around the plastic pieces here:

Now, its kinda wrinkled a little and I need to work on that, but it fits pretty tight. I'm gonna give it a whirl and see how it holds up, but the best part is there was no modification to any parts, so nothing is lost if it doesn't work. I think I have 20 minutes in this idea and no money. I'll let you know how this works, but it may give some others better ideas with their 6.4 covers if they are sitting around collecting dust.

Like. Wish Ford would make one that doesn't require Stick-on snaps.

Steve,

Nice job on the retrofit. I'm sure there's enough air coming up underneath the bumper to give the radiators some airflow. Let us know if you think it makes a difference on warmup time.

I'm a little torn on the cover in front of the grill though. On the one hand it sure does protect from rock chips, etc but I'm wondering if the cover will constantly rub on the plasti-chrome and leave scratches?

I used it on my 6.4 and didn't get any scratching on the chrome. I'm going to assume it will work okay this year when it comes to scratching.

I really don't want to put the snaps on the front. If it comes to it, I will, but for now I want to try solutions that don't force me to glue crap to my truck.

I took the truck out this afternoon, but its 30 degrees out which is warmer than last night. I did get warmer faster today. I'll wait for it to get bellow 20 again and take it out on the freeway to see if it gets warm. It sure made a big difference in my 6.4 and I have high hopes here.
