Question For those that have removed the motor...

.... Did you remove the radiator and i/c also?
Getting stuff prepared to replace oil pan, want to make it as painless as possible.. I'll probably won't drive it much afterward this winter so no more salt gets on it. Any tips would be appreciated. .. Bill

Radiator and IC yes, but A/C condenser stayed so it wouldnt need to be recharged.

Good time to install a larger trans cooler since it'll be easily accessible. We pulled the cab when we did ours but lots of folks don't. If you do pull the cab it's a good op to line-x the underside of the cab and the front face of the bed to prevent rock chips.

I removed everything up front. I have a few friends with the ac recharge units and it cost me $30 to refill the system with 0 chance of the condenser getting twisted or scratching the fender.

My advice is to take the bolts from certain component put them in a sandwich bag and label them so you can keep them straight.

Is this Line-X the best way out there to inhibit rust and corrosion on our oil pans? Is there a better alternative out there?

Thanks,
Drake

There is really nothing better than some sort of undercoating material.
My oil pan is coated now too with fenderwell coating.

I pulled all of the above. The only down fall is the a/c recharge. With all that stuff out of the way, plus the core support header, pulling the motor is easy as pie.

Sounds like a plan, my intent as well. But will see if I can get away without having the a/c recharged.

others may have different experiences but I scuffed my new pan and cleaned/coated with POR15. The pan started rusting under the POR15/original coat. WTF? If I ever had to do it again I'd completely strip the new pan. original coating has shown to be a problem, this is why you are removing the motor

POR 15 if I remember correctly is only good on wirebrushed ,degreased ,rusted steel .Using POR-15 : Advanced-Rust-Protection.com
