On the rough roads where I live, one doesn't have to slam anything to wreck the door glass. There always seems to be one or two broken ones in my fleet. Fixing them is one of my LEAST favorite tasks in the world of old trucks. Why can't the whole inner door skin be removable instead of just a minimal access panel? I feel your pain.........

Slightly on/off topic. Couple of years ago I went to a local car show/swap meet. It had a lot of various makes/models/year there. I had a 53 F350 there up for sale. Most of the people there showed respect and asked if they could get inside, etc. to check things out. One of the issues I had though was almost everyone LOVED to slam the dang doors. Guess there is something in the human mind that equates quality with that "thud". Well late in the day I had a buyer interested in the truck. After reaching the deal he got into the truck and slammed the door shut. The door glass jumped out of the channel and fell inside the door cavity. I could hear the glass shattering. All I could do is shake my head. Being the great guy he is (I later made friends with him), he just hung his head and shook his head.
I have modern vehicles that have ten times the window issues than these old trucks. There are so many working/moving parts in doors that they are prone to issues. Because of poor design or safety, most of them are a pain to access the window parts. Just hang in there Ken.

Everyone slams the door on my trucks when they get out. I think that the reason most fo the parts trucks I've had had broken door windows. I don't know people have the need to slam the doors, they don't slam the door on my daily driver.
I've only broken one window by slamming the door of a vehicle. It was on a newer off topic car. In the same incident I also broke my hand, it was hot, late and I was in a hurry. Long story of stupidity on my part.

The roller breaks, the window falls down inside the door.

Coat Hanger!!!????? Don't be using those fancy things on the truck windows. lol Everyone knows that duct tape is all that is need for proper window repair. Coat hangers are for exhaust and muffler fixes.
