I have been lurking since this past fall and finally joined today. I want to thank all of you for this fantastic resource. It has already saved me time and money in repairs. Since I purchased my 2000 V-10 4x4 Limited in June of 2011 I have done the following:
Fixed Cruise Control, via recall
New tires and wheels, 285 BFG AT KO on 16x8 MB Chaos wheels
Released barn door tethers so they now swing open all the way
Numerous Oil Changes
New Serpentine Belt
New Front Shocks
Rear Brake Pads

I'm new as well 2SONS and have also found this forum very helpful with my new Ex. Maybe you'll be able to answer my question about the stock suspension.
Does your X bottom out easily?
Also, if anyone could suggest a thread or a person to check with it's GREATLY appreciated. Looking into a Lift kit to get more clearance and air bags to assist with tongue weight. I trailer a 27' V~nose Car hauler.

Either it didn't help or I'm a complete newb. Think newb myself. I searched bumpstops and nothing came up except list of threads. None seem to point to my issue. I attempted both search features on this site/forum. Thanks for the quick reply also....

In my experience Google has done a better job of locating items on this forum than the forums own search function. Be very specific in your google search and you will probably find what you are looking for on this forum.

Bart, a lot of reading here, but well worth it. V springs are your answer (x2).

It's your future, changing out those useless front Excursion springs for some V codes. Plenty of step by step instructions in that compilation. If you have any issues, post here and we'll help. Think of us as your fellow brothers (and sisters!) - wrenching toward the perfect Ex.

Sean is it?
I briefly read and took a look at the parts needed to do this replacement. Thank you. I'm going to find out what I have and then move forward. I might have a local shop do the install because my 60Gal Compressor crapped out and I'm not trying this by hand... LOL Looks like a knuckle breaker job.

If you wouldn't mind, could you take a look at my pictures? (All are welcome to give input) Let me know your opinion on the leafs and how my truck sits w/trailer. The trailer is empty and the V-nose has a Roll about tool box. I think it's without the weight distribution bars, when those are on the trailer & truck even out a bit but the front end is still airborn.
Thanks for all the input..

C50bart, as everyone else has stated a spring swap will make your current bottoming out truck a completely new beast. There are a bunch of us here who have done spring swaps and associated mods, search this forum for V/B, X/B and Wander to find tons of info. Ford short changed the EX when it came to springs and the fix is as easy as swapping in a set from an F-250/350, big difference.
When I bought my truck the bottoming out had me very frustrated and the axle wrap and wander while towing made for a real adventure. Using info gained on this forum and a set of take-off springs from a coworker's F-350 and some spring shop U-bolts my truck went from this

to this

No more bottoming out and towing is now very enjoyable!
Welcome to the forums!
