Thinking about picking up this truck

Hey guys, check this out!

1991 ford f350 dually diesel 4 door

I thought it had sold and the ad removed but it popped up again this morning. The funny thing is, I have a working IP from my truck sitting in the tool box and 7 reman injectors without a home. The turbo and tranny are worth twice what he is asking.

Buy it, and drive it away like you stole it. Could easily make up the cost in parting it out and then some. If it was 4x4, I'd be tempted to race down and buy it out from under you.
All it really needs is an IP? Could get a scrappers and get it home, or get a fresh rebuilt one for what $300, and have a truck worth a few thousand for $1200?

Yah seriously jump on that!

Can't tell much from the pictures, but looks like the body is pretty clean. That would go for crazy money up here in the rust belt.

There is a good chance it doesn't even need an ip. If it isn't rusty and you need a two wheel drive dually, it should be a good buy,

I don't need another truck right now but I was thinking I could make some cash if I fix what's wrong with it and sell it again. That truck would go for about $2500 if it was in good running condition. 4x4 would be nice but I'm sure his price would be higher if it were. 2x4 is still quite good around here as we don't get much if any snow. It would make a great horse puller, etc. I'll call him and see what's up. I don't even know if it is a ZF5 or E4OD. I'm assuming E4OD because rebuilding a ZF5 is not near as common.

Damn, it's 100 miles away! I guess I'll need to get it running or pay $$ to have it towed. Maybe I can rent a trailer and tow it. It could just have air intrusion, too.

you know why people posts small pics.only one.notice how far away it is too.
don't expect much when you get there.
probably needs thousands in brake, suspension, trans, etc. work.
no one gives good trucks away.those who do,usually do so to family.
that said,it's still priced right.i'll buy the rear axle from ya if she sports 3.55's and a ring tone.that is if shipping doesn't kill the idea.

OK, I called the guy and he said he has a folder full of maintenance receipts with it. He has had it about 3 months and the IP went out. He had a diesel shop diagnose it as a bad IP but the injectors are new. I bet someone cheaped out on the IP and the old one took a dump because of it. The worst thing he said is that it has oil in the coolant. He said his mechanic diagnosed it as an oil cooler seal. It is an E4OD.

Even if the engine is Fed, it has a Banks, rebuilt E4OD, supposedly no rust, misc parts, and scrap value. It seems like a winnable deal.

yup.you can't loose by any means.just don't show up and expect a truck worth thousands. she probably doesn't look so hot.
you may find it worth putting thousands into,ot it may be best suited for parts.just don't get turned off by appearance is the main point.
where are you going to put it though? can you take on such a large project truck at your apartment? of course the big question you should have asked is, why he is he selling a truck he dumped thousands into for less than a grand?

right.exactly my point Joe.
look what i scored for around 3500$ because it didn't look so hot:

47k original miles.junked the bed and sat a real one on.
she has taken some $ to make right again just due to age though.........still not done, several thousand over purchase price and 2 yrs latter.this is of course making her far above "right" for 1993 standards and conversions though.

right.im in agreement here Joe.the truck is worth the $900.
heck if the rear axle is 3.55 LS w/ring tone,id give $400 for it (as long as shipping is 200 or less.) almost half what he payed for the truck i value the rear dually axle at.
i payed more for a used banks turbo than he would this whole truck!
im saying, don't expect her too look too good, and don't expect it to be cheap to fix.there is no such thing as a free ride.otherwise people wouldn't be paying 50-60k for a new diesel truck right?

That's exactly what I was thinking about my van, and it's add didn't even have a pic at all!

I checked it all, brakes are great all around (damn rear drums have to pull out the axle to get the drums off), only thing it needs is a 30$ park brake cable, a good oil change, tranny flush.

I haven't check what's causing my weird stiff steering though. I don't think it's the Kingpins at all. Think the steering box might be bad. As it turns pretty good to the left, but horribly stiff and makes all kinds of weird noises turning right.

Kingpins are missing both lower grease nipples though.

But hey, 92k miles for 600$ i'm happy
