Hey two4two,
You have that cool retractable rear window.
Is it functional?
Do you know how many Bigfoot models were made?

Yes, I have the retractable rear window. But one drawback is it draws jetsom and flotsam in the cab! Don't know how many Bigfoot models were made. Do you? For an F250 it sure can haul a lot of weight: 2 full cubes of bricks easily. It is a 460 V8, C6? auto transmission, 4WD with low range. Pulled down a gutted building once. Terrific nileage too -- almost 6 MPG. (of oil that is LOL.) The exhaust manifold studs have a tendancy to thin out and break (I hear a lot of 460s have that problem). Couldn't get one of the broken ones out, so I put new heads on. But I didn't do the bottom end. I replaced rear axel bearings once in 160K miles, and rebuild the transmission. It is the XLT model with all power and A/C. As long as I can keep it roadworth I'll keep it.

two4two, have you checked the fusible link from the alternator harness to the battery post on the starter solenoid? If it has failed, you will get nothing from the alternator into the system. If you are getting good power from the alternator at the plug I would suspect that. Most parts stores can perform limited on vehicle checks,

Is it the hard encasing where the two wires coming from the alternator join together before attaching to the starter solenoid? (And as an aside note, I have usually called it the starter relay, believeing the solenoid was inside the starter -- causing the starter to engage the flex plate.)
OK. Here is link to a picture of the back of my alternator as it is mounted on the truck. As you can see, it is new (or reman). Is that back part of it the VR? If so, which terminal as seen in this picture is the testing terminal?

Unless you have changed to a later PMGR starter, you have what is called a moveable pole piece starter and yes many call it a relay, it is, just a real heavy duty one.
The point where the two wires join is the alternator end of the fusible link, I don't have a good picture of one I can post. The testing terminal, with the harness plugged in, should be the one furthest from the plug.

VR testing post
Yes, I know about posts #14 and #10. His picture is when off of the vehicle and he says it's the back side. I want to be sure I ground the correct one. Mine is on the vehicle and it is hard for me to see. If you can see the picture I've posted, it is mounted on the vehicle, it is hard for me to read or reach it, and hard to decide am I looking at it from the front or back. Maybe one of you recognizes it and can point out the correct terminal as it is pictured in my post? Thanks.

Thanks guys
Just to make sure, the part that's visible in MY picture is the same as the part that's visible in YOUR photo, right? We are showing it from the same perspective, and so the one marked for test in your picture can be directly translated onto my picture. Thank you for your help. I'll give it a try as soon as this glacier of clod weather gives way to some bearable temps.
