I bought the next model up CP9575
http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16362
since it has CANBUS compatibility. Some newer Fords require CANBUS along with OBDII. The cheaper model(CP9125 at Autozone) doesn't say CANBUS compliant on the package so I passed on it since I needed it for my 2004 Lincoln. The scanner mentioned in the original post wasn't at Autozone, but it looks like it is CAN compliant. BTW, Autozone in So Calif had the CP9575 on sale this past week for less than $100, maybe still is?
I like it and so far it has saved me the cost of the scanner. Only two dislikes so far... 1) The manual is a bit sketchy with no codes listed, the scanner tells you what is wrong 2) The buttons are cheesy, like kiddie toy buttons. Only slight "malfunction" I get(30% of the time?) is when initially trying to connect with the car computer. It doesn't always connect and requires a key on then off to reset.
For the price this isn't a bad unit. I'll have to play with it some more, but since my car is running properly all I can do is watch the real time display mode. I like the feel of my older Omni scanner, but it doesn't read CAN and it only gives a code, which you then look up in the much more detailed book. This one is maybe better for users who need some verbal direction from the scanner. But you still have to understand what it is telling you, not for a clueless mechanic.
FWIW,
