Good to know info on the glow plugs. I had no idea. I'll probably end up doing all this pretty soon. Is there a how to for the injection pump on here?

Also, what's a good turbo kit for the truck? If I go turbo should I wait and have an exhaust made after its turbo'd? If I turbo it, what should I do to the motor? What is studded? Different head studs?
Here is the how-to most guys on here recommend.

TikiWiki : IDI Fuel Injection Servicing

I had trouble with my install because I had a bad injector that I mistook for bad timing and or a bad IP. Don't forget you will need a way to set the timing for the new pump. I bought a timing meter designed for these engines but I know there is a rental program going on over at oilburners.net.

Thanks, man. I'll have to get some updated pictures. I painted it about 7 months ago and put some later model wheels on it but have yet to take any photos.

Hey guys, I'm about to order the IP, injectors, install kit and glow plugs. Anything else I should order while doing all this?

Either buy online or find a good hardware store to get the 5/16" 16 point socket, 9/16" open ended crow foot and some swivels and extensions. You can bypass the crow foot if you have the ability to make a wrench that will fit the nut on the IP flange on the passenger side. You will also need a torque wrench.

Are you getting the return kit from Russ? If not, buy a pack of #111 viton O-rings and use them instead of the ones that come with the return kit.

Removing the bolts that hold the IP to the timing gear. They are under the plate below the oil fill tube. There are 3 of them and they have a torque setting when reinstalled.

Ahhh...gotcha. I'm pretty sure I have a 5/16 16 point socket. Thanks for the heads up.

What you will really need is a 5/16" 12-POINT SOCKET. There was a typo in the source article.
