EGR disconnect on a 2006
Hi, I have read on different forum that you could disconnect the EGR when engine is OFF. Wonder if it is advisable for a 2006.
With the EGR disconnected, it would be better for the Turbo, intake, and may be the EGR cooler? They would not receive any dirty exhaust gaz. This would probably through a CEL.
Thanks for your input.

Never thought about trying to do an EGR delete with my mind! LOL (sorry, got a good laugh out of that one)

Sometimes "auto correct" doesn't follow what your trying to say/spell out. For the record I'm talking about physically unhooking the EGR valve from the engine wiring harness. It'll be alright, ain't the first time I've stepped on my own foot on FTE.

Don't feel bad, I've done a couple myself .
Kiddo,
I can verify if you just unplug the EGR valve it will turn on the CEL and set a code. It was one of the first things I did when I got my truck home. There were several posts at the time saying it would be fine, but disconnect with the engine off so the valve would be in the closed position. Didn't work on my '06. It appears the truck can sense the reduced egr flow as it sets a code for that. Only the guys with the early trucks could pull the plug. Then, the issue came up about the cooling fan operation so no one is safe.
