Dana 50 Front axle seal question!

Hey brothers-

I have an 89 F-250 4X4 7.3l.

Went to re-pack the front bearings, and I am curious(because I've never done this), can I pop the inner seal out to get the inner bearings out, and then re-use the seal? Or do I need to get a new seal? And if so, what's the napa part number? They have about a million listed...

Thanks,
Joshua

I re-use them. Get a long drift and drive it out with the bearing.

...and it's a wheel seal, the axle seal is the one that seals the front axles go into the diff.

Cool, thanks. I got it all put back together, seems to work so far, and the seal wasn't beat up at all so it should do fine.

Anyone have a part number for that big o-ring that seals between the manual-locker dial and the rotor? Orielly's doesn't seem to sell it.

Thanks,
Joshua

I dont think you can get that o ring aftermarket without measuring it and finding one with the specs. All it does is keep water out so a little rtv would seal it up. Are you missing yours or just wanta replace it as preventive maintenence?

Mine aren't missing, but they are cracked enough that they may as well be...

Just figured it would be cheap and easy but nobody seems to sell it.

Take it to an industrial supply shop that sells bearings and the like, they should be able to match it up and sell you something. You may have to spend $10 and buy a pack of 10 or something though! LOL!
