M 601 filter intead of 401

The Motorcraft M601 filter will fit our 7.3's instead of the 401. You get a larger capacity filter for nearly the same price.

yeah.that's the one i run too.9k intervals seems like the sweet spot with the mobil 1 5w 40.i went 11k last time, and she looked a bit thin when draining.9k intervals is 3 dino changes.so about the same $ and you get better oil and easier starts.
i should send in a sample at least once though.i could still be throwing $ away even at 9k intervals.dunno.

I have 8000 on rotella full synthetic. That's why I went for the larger filter too. I wondered the same thing considering I drive 50 miles down the interstate to get to work. I put 800 miles a week on the ole girl and I can't beleave I need to change the oil every month. I make her pull hard for maybe 50 of those miles the rests it is just commuting and running around.

The full synthetic burns off faster and I have to add a gallon. Might go to the blend

That's the same speed mine usually leaks. Maybe I missed checking at a fill up cause when I checked it was lower than I expected. I will keep an I on it. This is the fist time I have put synthetic in it and I have been told it is thinner and would get through the seals faster.

mine doesn't leak any.it's just burning it at the normal rate for these engines as i understand it.
(better be as she's only at 83k miles lol.)

Burn it is what I meant. The only leak I had was valve cover and I replaced it. the 83,000 good to here. Mine has over 300 I'm glad to here that its considered normal.

I have been changing my oil filter every oil change. I'm sure it can't hurt anything but are you guys saying you go every other change?

we're talking about mobil 1's synthetic oil filters which extend the change intervals of them yes.
they are much larger in size compared to the filter they replace.
so if you run the larger PSD filter, you can choose to use it's equivalent the m1-601 which even larger still.
not only is it larger, but it filters better and last much longer than the old school type filters.
every oil change,i change mine out, which is every 9k miles (using synthetic oil of course.)

Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil Filters

advanceauto.com has good prices.
(depending on how much your buying there.try promo codes VISA and P20.)
