Need Gauge Mounting Opinions

I'm going to run 4 gauges (vac, trans temp, oil press & water temp) and am torn between pillar mounting all 4, overhead mounting all 4 or splitting them up.

Thoughts, experience or opinions?

Thanks as always.

Im a fan of pillar mounting. I love the way it looks in supers. I just got my 250 and started my search for pillar clusters. But I cant think of what gauges I would need that are not already in my dash

Since you want to mount 4 you might as well go for the pillar mount. That way you don't have to rip half the truck apart routing wires and mounting pods.

undecided on the pillar mounts. Reminds me of fox body mustangs. I am looking at adding a 3 gauge cluster under the dash right now.

I like the pull handle on the drivers side...that would have to go if you use the pillar. As you can see I went over the rear view mirror.

I don't know what year you have, but I think the pillar mount is the best. I'm not sure the four guage pillar mount is available for all of the years. Good luck.

It's a 2000, no "Oh *****" handle on the drivers side.

They make the four guage pillar mount for the 2000. I have an 01, and I'm going to install a four guage pillar mount one of these days. Good luck.

2000 don't have grab handles on the drivers side...I added it from a 2006 then added the passenger side to match. 2005 and up are slightly different. Whatever location you use be sure to consider a separate dimmer for the gauges. If you follow the link above you'll find the gauges I installed were VERY bright. Having them hooked to the dash dimmer didn't work so good. Once I got the gauges to a comfortable level the dash lights were dark. Either location will look great...just wanted to provide another option to consider.

Personally I hate that handle. A blind spot for me and gets in the way.

I'm surprised everybody hasn't taken turns showing what their gauges look like. Is there someplace on the forum where something like this can be permanently displayed? To clarify, a "catalog" of gauge installs and everybody posts there for others to view. The same could be done with stereos, canopies, wheels, exterior lights, running boards, etc....

I don't like the lit gauges in my face, as the A-pillar mounting would have done. I installed under the dash and I just glance when I'm doing something that warrants looking there.
