my 99 F350 Runs rough when accelerating but smooths out when at speed. Seems like it's missing at idle a little. Any ideas as to cause?

 

Moved to the 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel forum.

 

Could be lots of things. How hard is the acceleration? How many miles ago did you change the oil? Did you put any additives in the oil? Is the oil full? Got a chip or tuner on the truck? How long since the fuel filter was changed?

 

any codes?
any smoke?
is the motor worm when this happens or cold?

 

No smoke. Oil changed recently. Fuel filter changed too. Leaks a little from HPOP. no additives, Haven't scanned it yet. Symptoms show when cold and warm.

 

Codes are p1393 and p1391 "glow plugs" but this code has been throwing for awhile before the present symptoms showed up. Does HPOP lines leaking slightly affect performance?

 

Any thoughts on this problem?

 

yes they feed the injectors. if the oil psi is down it will make it run bad. you are looking at 3000psi in there so a small leak will make bad things happen.
