so i scored a set of fairly used skyjacker hydro 7000 shocks w/steering damper and a chrome oil pan to fit on the ol' 351m....i got all of it for $50 from my boss....
my problem is that the mounts are different...the lower rears will work fine, i will have to fab a mount for the upper rears...
the fronts are a different story, the stock mounts are the type the shock goes thru holes on both ends...the shocks are the type with round ends and round bushings as you can see...i have a couple different ideas to fab up mounts that will just bolt into the factory mounts...but im looking for some feedback on any ideas to convert the mounts...cause im probably overthinking as usual....
the steering damper has the same issue as the front shocks, both ends are different...so if anyone out here has this style of shock mounts, please share your pics...thanks!!!
i'd probably just go with something like this. simple and worst come to worst you can torch and bend or miter cut tube and weld it if you can't get access to a bender.
the other more hillbilly idea i have floating around is use a angled small piece of box tube and drill it and just use spacers to hold the bushing tight if you get what i mean, kinda butch though....
Yeah I think all the sleeves are MIA. They are probably in the misc bolt bin at work. If not they are pretty easy to make from materials at ace hardware. Does it matter if the shock boots or up or down?? Of is it just which ever way I think looks better??
I actually went with a pin adapter for bottom. A 3/4" threaded rod to bolt to mount with a U shape saddle with holes welded to top. Its made by some company but I cantt remeber. Its bling yellow zinc though. lol
I would make some tabs now that I have welders and proper tools I was just lazy..works fine though
That's even better than what I was thinking, once again, "overthinking" kills me. I for sure won't spend money on it, I can build em for free. Thanks for the pics, it's exactly what I needed!!! Now to just git er done!!!
