It is always good to hear about value retention. I was pretty happy when I saw that.

that is depressing. I am planning on keeping my truck until they bury me in it but wow that seems low.

It has to be for trading value because when the dealer is selling a used truck to you it is definitely more than 39% of value.

Friend just bought a 2003 F250XLT 7.3L 4X4 paid $28,000.

My $38000 05 dodge 3500 trade in was $17000 and they wanted another friend of mine to buy it for $26000. He ended up getting it for $19000 cause that was part of my deal that they buy it from me and sell it to him for a $1000 more but they squealed after the fact for four days till they both agreed to $19000. $2000 more

Paid 29,700.00 back in 97 for my 7.3 crew cab. Sold this year for 10,500.00. Thats roughly 35% for a 14 year old truck. I hope the 6.7 turns out to be a winner.

On a side note, I bought my 07 Cummins 5.9 2500 for about 34k in 07 from a volume dealer in NC. I traded her in Oct 10 and got about 33k for her

yeah... And my Ford dealer will not take 6.0 trucks in on trade. Dodge dealer offered me auction price. So I am stuck with the used Ford. Should have bought a Dodge. Have to wonder why you would sell your 07 Dodge. No egr. No regen. probably the best modern diesel out there.

Who ever thinks Ford resale is great hasn't tried to sell a 6.0. -Mike

Traded in my 2007 6.0 with 80,000 miles last year and got 24,000.

Keep trying.

That's for sure... that's exactly what I found when I was shopping for my current truck. After telling the dealer I wanted to trade in my '03 6.0 only 1 out of 5 dealers were even willing to discuss my trade in, the others pretty much said "Ahhhh... No thank you". I ended up getting wholesale or auction price for it.

The reason the Ford is doing so well is its perceived reliability. Same reason the Cummins 5.9, Duramax LBZ, and Ford 7.3 do so well. Try to trade in a Lb7 with its injector issues, 6.0 for all of its issues or a 07-09 6.7 Cummins and you'll pay for their perceived unreliability.

Diesel owners want reliable trucks. That's why they buy diesels. If the perception is a lack of reliability, the resale value is going to drop.

I am getting 14k for a 2004 6.0 Lariat with 108k miles. One scratch and some minor tailgate damage. Otherwise in good shape. KBB said 15 for trade in, didn't get that but not all that unhappy.
