the last thing...........

it's not the 53 although i went through the same thing with it , and forgot it . it's the 52 customline , and it applies to all vehicles . i have been fighting with the brakes on it and the right front keeps locking up , and i have tried everything i can think of and replaced new parts with more new parts . well here's what it did . it would after bleeding and adjustment , go for a short bit , then just all of a sudden trap fluid in the wheel cylinder and lock 'em up . well after messing with it , TADAH !!!!!!! it became readily apparent what it was . the 60 year old brake return springs were worn out and were not pulling back with enough force to overcome the fluid . sheez how it always seem's to be the last dain little thing you would think of !!!!!!! ordered the parts from dennis carpenter as i don't want to take a chance on the universal stuff from the local places , and now all i gotta do is get it done ............ so all ya's especially the newb's who are messing with or chasing gremlins in anything ... it's always the stupid little thing !!!!!!!!!

I will keep that in mind because I am going through the brakes on my truck right now. It is 62 years old and has sat for the last 20.

Also remember a bad brake hose can make a brake lock up. An old hose can swell in the inside and act like a one way valve, not letting the fluid travel back into the MC.

I would bet on a brake hose over a return spring unless it is the wrong return spring or the correct spring with lots of rust.

Personally, I haven't had that experience, but I've heard from many that have.

It"s a good day

just had to share my night run today. Had my 54 out for a run .and driving through town I have gotten used to the smiles and thumb's up when we are out ..but tonight a young fellow 30 or so ..walked out to the truck and said how neet it looked and nice to see it out and all..then a block later two people stopped to take pictures !!! now this is NOT a great looking truck rusty and damm near ugly ..but they thought she was neet ..gotta admit my ear's hurt from smiling ...

all the hoses and lines are new , and the hoses got replaced again as thats what i thought . i had that experience with the thunderbird even though it is only what 16 years old , so yep they can swell and cause issues . enjoy it ken as it is a blast and intoxicating to cruise 'round in our oldies !!!!!! back to the brakes i even went through the m/c thinking it had something wrong with it . same story a few years ago with the 53 , bessie . just to find out it had bad springs too . i wish i woulda remembered as it would've saved me some cussing and headaches now !!!! LOL !!!

As I was ready my first thought went to the brake line.... and then also thought of rust in the brake cylinder... never would have thought about checking the spring.... Great Job
