Fuel Pump Issue...Runs But...

My 88, which is carbed, is experiencing a no-fuel problem. Ive been running a MR Gasket mini-inline pump(4-7psi)...Ran thru the Factory Fuel pump Relay. Only issues have been a backwards fuel gauge, and the original relay burnt out. it ran when i parked it to pull the motor, i capped off the lines, i did remove the gas vent canister thats up front. I didnt add any fuel stabilizer right way, but I did a couple months after the motor was pulled, has been parked almost a year now. I went to check to make sure the pump is functioning. pump comes on, but does not push any fuel to the carb, pres reg reads Zero. I popped the line off the factory inline filter to make sure i didnt install it backwards...Dry as well. Shook the truck, pump running, just not pumping, I shot some air into the fuel line and twice a bunch of fuel rushed out. The pump is mounted on the frame right infront of the tank. Im assuming that possibly the pickup in the tank is blocked or the line into the pump is...It sounds like the one time it ran out of gas(thanks to a backwards gauge that reads full at 1/2 a tank. but once i dumped some gas in it, she fired right back up. I was going to try running a line into a separate gas can into the pump to determine if the pump is bad or not...Anything before having to drop the tank lol. If anyone has some ideas, Id really appriciate it... Ive put alot alot of time and $ into her and to run into this silly little issue that Im sure Ive been over thinking. This is the last thing thats keeping her from rolling out the garage upder her own power. Thanks

Yours had two factory fuel pumps a low pressure in the tank and a high pressure on the frame. If the in-tank unit is still there but with no power, its probably blocking the flow of fuel to the new pump.

Yea, Im aware it did have the high inline, and then the low intank...I didnt install the mini inline pump, a local shop did, I know they removed the high pressure pump, because they gave it to me...So I assume the in tank one is still there, but not powered. I drove the truck this way for a year with no issues. I know theres not a filter on the p/u with the F.I sending units...and the Carbed one do have one. So im just kinda stumped lol

the intake pump is probably clogged up. time to drop the tank. its really not that hard. just hit all the bolts with pb blaster a couple days in advance multiple times. helps if you try and remove as much fuel as possble from tank prior.

good luck

Yea, I figured it was going to come to that...I was just hanging on to a thread of hope that I wouldnt to lol...I know theres at least half a tank. So this'll be fun...I guess a couple buddies will be getting some gas for helping me. I think since it comes to that, ill drop the 87' 351w Carb sending unit in. Thanks yall.
