BOLT TORQUE

According to my 2003 shop manual, on the 7.3L diesel, the bolt torque is 45 foot pounds. For all other engines it is 35 foot pounds. They must use higher grade bolts on the 7.3 engine.

Thanks so much Ron. That is what I thought just wanted to make sure. Transmission is done after several days of work and running great, except when put into gear there still seems to be a whining kind of sound in the torque converter. Is this normal for this truck?

He's the nosy type.

That and he'll move this thread down to the 7.3 IDI section so you get more views from the folks who have the same truck as you.

I've always driven a handshaker, so I can't help with torque converter noises. Good luck.

Yeah 10-4.

The reason I ask is that this is posted in the Super Duty section and the Super Duty only had the 4R100 behind the 7.3 Powerstroke.

If you need more assistance with this, I can move it to the appropriate forum for you.

Am I really that obvious?

ON EDIT: Chris is correct once again.....and as usual.

Thread moved to the Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L) forum.

Bolts for the trans to engine? They are 95 ft lbs. 1/2 inch bolts will fall out at 45 lbs.

Just so everyone knows, my manual says 50ft pounds for the 7.5L and 65ft pounds for the 7.3 diesel

and for the torque converter bolts it said 34ft lbs
