noise when shifting from OD to Drive

My truck makes a noise that kinda sounds like i run over a rumble strip on side of the road when truck shifts down from OD to Drive.. only last for a second, sounds like it coming from under truck and not steering or wheel area... ANY IDEAS? Plan on taking truck to tranny shop to see if that is it but wondering if anyone on here has similar problem or knows what it is....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I have the EXACT same problem on my 2007 F-150 4WD. Very well described. I took mine to a transmission shop and they could not reproduce the sound. I had them change the fluid and filter and the problem went away for about 6 months. Now it's back. Have you had any luck with yours?

I have had exactly the same issue, but for some reason, it's gone away recently. If you read the forum here, you'll find a few different possible reasons - one is a misfire caused by a bad or weak coil. Others have replaced the transmission fluid with good success - changing to Mercon V fluid is supposed to help.

Try searching for more details. Good luck!

I've had the bad coil problem...mine turned out to be cylinder #1. I've also had the plugs replaced where the shop managed to break 4 of the 8. It's definitely a different sensation when you've clearly felt them both. The plug/coil is more of a sputter/bucking feeling. This feels EXACTLY like passing over a small rumble strip. Like one you might hit when entering a slow-down zone on a freeway, except it only happens when downshifting from OD to Drive as ttw mentioned.
