2005 F-250 Lockout hub questions
Hello, I am newer to FTE. I have a 2005 F-250 with the auto/manual lockouts. They are frozen solid in auto and the selector in the truck for the vacuum is not activating 4 wheel any more. I really want to replace the factory lockouts with something more reliable instead of putting the OEM ones back in. I have not really been to successful in finding anything other than OEM. These are the only ones I did find, but i'm not sure they will fit my truck. (Dana 60 Chevy GMC Dodge Ford Mile Marker 30 Spline Locking Hubs Lockouts, Dana 60 Chevy GMC Dodge Ford Mile Marker 30 Spline Locking Hubs Lockouts (758626004499) | eBay)
Any help would be great! Thank You! Chad

I believe you need to service the original hubs.
This is the thread for doing the '05 and up auto hubs:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...with-pics.html
As far as I know, there are no aftermarket hubs for the '05 and later (as of yet).
Per this thread:

Trey did another nice video on finding ESOF leaks:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...uum-leaks.html
I would recommend you replace your old rubber ESOF lines with these:

Seasons Greetings Gents!
I have a 2005 F350 Heavy Duty, Lariat. Returning from the city (2.5hr drive), I noticed that someone took the time to switch my Lockouts from AUTO to LOCKED.
a) I have no idea when they were switched to LOCKED (Kids with nothing better to do).
b) I have no idea if I have engaged my 4x4 (2HI to 4HI) via the switch on the dash, with the wheels locked out. The day I noticed the wheels LOCKED, I did not use 4HI. But on previous occasions, I have used my 4HI for short bursts. I have drove the truck once with 4HI (and maybe with the front wheels locked out, but I'm not too sure).
A couple questions follow:
By having someone come to your truck and selecting it from AUTO to LOCKED, will this pose a problem to the front end?, and if so what problems may arise?
I have read a few posts where the users say they lock their front end all winter, which just adds to general wear & tear. (What does this mean, and is this information correct?).
I reside in Rural Saskatchewan, and our winters are extremely harsh! (-38 deg C so far, and winter has just begun!).
Until I get a better understanding of this, my first Ford (I drove a F550 in the Oil Patch, which I just loved! - Great Truck!!!) I am very skeptical and pre-check my front end, just to ensure it is in AUTO.
Is this new fear founded? Or can the truck be driven around with the front end engaged?
ALSO:
What are the recommended driving speeds for the following:
2HI - AUTO
2HI - LOCKED
4HI - AUTO
4HI - LOCKED
4LOW - AUTO
4LOW - LOCKED
I have not been able to locate a User's Manual for my truck.
Thanks for your valued assistance! Looks like a healthy Forum!

You can get an owner's manual on-line for no charge. Just do a search for Ford Truck Owners Manual. The Ford link is the one to use. All of the speed recommendations (if any exist) are listed there.
Having the hubs in the locked position is no big deal. It will reduce your MPG a bit, but there would be no other problem.

Here's a link to download a manual: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...e&ord=81609284
Won't work on 2005 and later. OEM only, but Warn makes the Ford hubs.
