Help Torque spec for 79 f250 front brakes

Hello fte members,

I have a 79 f250 3/4 ton 4x4 with a dana axle in the front.

On the front disk brakes. I bought remanufactured "caliper piston housings"

They are the front caliper with dual pistons that bolt to the front caliper with two big bolts

I need to check them but want to say they are around 3/4'' bolts

I need to unbolt my old front calipers and bolt in the remanufactured ones to the caliper bracket

My question is do you guys know the torque spec for the two bolts??? That I will bolt and unbolt?

I cannot find the torque specs for these two bolts in my chilton or haynes

Thank you guys for your help =)

I'm a little confused as to what you're doing here. Those two big bolts hold the two halves of each caliper together. Later versions of that caliper are one piece. Those two bolts have nothing to do with retaining the caliper to the front axle. That is accomplished with a wedge piece and a small bolt. There is probably a proper name for the wedge, but I can't think of it. I have never heard of anyone being able to buy remanufactured caliper "halves". I'll just go ahead and assume you bought some calipers, and need to install them on the axle. There is a bolt just below the caliper when the caliper is installed on the axle. Remove it. It should be pretty obvious how to hammer out the wedge after you get the bolt out. The caliper then slides down and off. Hope that helps.

My Clymer manual (circa 1979) states 155-185 ft.lbs. for DPCs. I think that refers to the caliper bracket, not the caliper itself.
