CONTINUATION of the TPMS sensors.....

Everything worked out fine with the sensors in November. Now I am looking at getting new custom wheels for the Red truck......sold the others

I bought a 4 set of ebay......nice price and worked well....OEM part numbers. Now when I check the seller's listings, he has no more sensors
So I use the PT # I have and come up with nothing but did come across some other sensors with a slightly different OEM part number. Can someone explain the differences on these part number.........please.

I think some of the info given is inaccurate. I have a 2011, build date 8/10 and I have rubber valve stems which means I should have strap type sensors. What is the cut-off date for the stem type sensors?

The stem type sensors (I was told at the dealers) started in sometime 12/10 and 01/11. And the wrap type ended. I had bought a set of 4 wheels with tires off of a '09 F-250 and they had strap on sensors and would not program to my computer. So I bought a set of the valve stem types and installed them....but they would not program as my manual said. So...PowerStrokeHD advised me to do it the old way and they programmed just fine.

All Ford parts carry a "service" part number and a "engineering" part number. The service part number is the one you use at the parts counter or when ordering online. The engineering number is the one used internally and the one that is found on the part. Cross-reference of the numbers can get messy at times...

9L3T-1A189-A = A Ford engineering number that I have yet to be able to cross reference, so I am not sure...

9L3T-1A180 = A partial Ford engineering number for the 9L3Z-1A189-A TPMS sensor. Missing a suffix. 9L3T-1A180-AE and 9L3T-1A180-AF are a couple of the latest engineering numbers.

9L3Z-1A189-A New Orange Electronic Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor = A "compatible" TPMS sensor made by "Orange Electronic". I believe with these sensors you need to program the sensor its self prior to use with a "proper" TPMS tool. Proper = $$$...

The stem mounted TPMS sensors have a brass stem encased in rubber that snaps in and looks more like a traditional valve stem.

The banded sensors where phased out at job last of the 2009 model year which was end of June 2009...

Old thread revival. Can you tell the difference between the two types of sensors by looking from the outside? I bought 2016 take off wheels and tires for my 2010. The valve stem looks different. It sounds like my 2010 could have gone either way. Built 12/09.
