I second the Fumoto valve, be sure you get the retainer clip with it to dissuade it from opening when you don't want it to.
Oil changes are fast now, I just stick a large hose over the valve and open it up.
I use the hose so I can slide the catch container under the filter. I knock a hole in the bottom of the filter and let it drain at the same time.
No more oil on the deck!

Tightening/crushing a copper washer is enough to harden it. If yours starts to leak but you want to go for the record and keep using it you can anneal it by heating it with a torch until red-hot and then letting it air cool. Ridges and deformations from prior use can then be removed by rubbing on flat sand paper, if needed. The washer will then be in the same state it was when it was new, though perhaps a bit thinner if sanded.

Well as a quick fix before My trip up north I went to advanced auto for a new drain plug and gasket for like 4 bucks. Ford wanted 10 bucks for the bolt and 5 for the washer so I passed on that. Anyways so far so good I have not seen any leaks.

+1 I use the Oil Tite brand 9/16/M14 washer with the rubber seal on mine, pn 65269, I usually replace it every other oil change, never a leak.

Back drain plug out couple of turns and wrap teflon tape around the plug. Just don't wrap up so far that it gets into the oil pan itself. Have done it several times before purchasing fumoto valve. (looking up at plug, wrap counterwise)
