How long does it take to get a new truck?

Just wanted to ask how long the folks have waited for their 2011 F-250's?

I have heard 6-8 weeks from the dealer but I have also heard horror stories of much longer.

I just ordered a 2011 F-250 SC, LB, 4X2 , 6.2L gas, and a few options.
I live in Arizona so the train between Kentucky and Arizona should have any snow.

Seems yours was a little long. I guess it would also depends on your location from the Kentucky plant where I think all the Super Duty trucks are made.
Yours was a bit longer than 6-8 weeks.

Yep, I wasn't lucky enough to fall in the less than 8 weeks category.

It seems that any delays are almost always related to the dealer, not Ford unless something happens with parts availability for a certain option or some other supply-side reason.

Stay on top of the dealer. Make sure they get you a VIN in a reasonable amount of time.

It is really hard to figure out how long it is going to take to receive your new truck. When I ordered mine on 11/15/10 I was told to expect a 2/11 to a 4/11 delivery date. Then the dealer called and my truck was being unloaded on 12/27/10. I picked it up the next day. This was a truck deliveried to NW Montana, not really in the delivery hub of USA. So how come mine came through so fast, who knows? I ordered a KR F350 LB 4X4 and pretty will loaded out. With a different color combination interior wise. Instead of the tan interior with the KR leather seats mine is black with the KR seats. This is the first KR with black in place of the tan carpet and dash that i have seen. So it was not the standard truck that most would order.

I was hoping that it would come in later as our winter with the constant snow this year I didn't want to be driving it in the gravel they put on the roads and call it sand. So I now have a total of 130 miles on the truck since 12/28/10. It stays in the shop unless I'm having something installed then it comes out and goes to the installer and then back to the shop. Now I'm in NW Arkansas and will be here for the next 3 weeks at least before I get a chance to get back to Montana and hopefully be able to drive it. I have to get it broken in before I can tow my 5er.

Good luck on you getting your new truck the waiting can be hard.

You must have been very happy to get it earlier.
Questions to all that ordered a new truck.
I have not finalized any price with my dealer yet and I guess the final price is still negotiable right? The MSRP with options and delivery is about $43,000.
So I guess stat is a basic starting point. What do yo think I should offer for the truck? I have heard that 8% to 10.5% is markup on these trucks.
What is your best guess on final price?

The price is always negotiable until you sign!

I believe most are getting anywhere from 7-10k off MSRP, some even more than that.

I don't have the patience to negotiate so I got a X plan pin number and took advantage of all the incentives/rebates ($3500). I think mine came in right around 8-9k off, something like that.

Got mine on Friday. Took 8 weeks and 2 days to get to the dealer. Just try to get a X plan and the price is set and you won't have to worry about getting the best price.

It's been 7 weeks 5 days and 6 Hrs and no news other than eta of the 1st week of March.
The best rebate in that time counts..... The day you take delivery check on and ask for 'Dealer Cash' if that is "on" than the dealer can give you that too.

Also the more 'stuff' you add on, the more you get discounted, a plain Jane will get you almost nothing besides the running rebates.

What do you tell them? Don't you need a VIN for them to track?
Where and when would you get that?

Yes you must have a VIN. Your dealer should have it about a month after you place the order, just ask for it. If he dint have it talk to the sales manager and he can get it.
