I'm getting ready to install my new BTS tranny in the next couple of days. I've got a 2000 f-350, it has the radiator cooler. I'm just wondering what is the best way to flush the tranny cooler lines out, as well as the the radiator cooler?

Aren't you changing to the 6.0 cooler? What happened to the trans? If it died, I'd be replacing the cooler and simply running fluid thru the lines to flush them or alcohol might work.

 

1) get a 6.0 and toss the 7.3 cooler.
2) call Brian and ask him the best way to do this. (he told me to blow the lines out backward)

Yeah I bought a new 6.0l tranny cooler. I just thought I'd ask if there was anything special with flushing the lines, as I have the one line that goes through the rad cooler. I cant wait to get the new tranny installed . I wont have to baby it now like I've been doing with my old one.

 

Just installed a JW trans. Hes instructions - disconnect both lines from trans. Blow air with brake clean into the rear line with a hose connected to the forward line (running into a bucket). Works a treat.

I'd throw a magna-fine inline filter in there for good measure too. That should catch any metal shavings or particles that you miss trying to clean things out.

I backflushed my lines with mineral spirits, denatured alcohol, then a little ATF.

 

Ok, thanks. That is what I will do, I'll back flush mine and I just ordered a magna-fine inline filter. Which I will install too, just for an extra precaution.
