Assembling the F1 1951 Bed

Hey all...Ive started to assemble the bed...I know that some folks just weld a bolt to the bottom side of the center cross members to eliminate the through the wood feature. How does the front attatch? I know there are 2 long cylindrical shaped bolt holders on the cross member but does the carriage bolt go through the wood into those? I bought a stainless set of original style fasteners and am not sure on the way to use the front ones..any pics are appreciated

See pic; as I recall, 48-50 beds are a little different in this respect than 51-52 (or maybe it's mid-fifties are different than 48-52? CRS...) At any rate, some beds don't have the front-most bolts.
