Had my 7.3 truck towed to Ford last week. They said it needed a new IPR. Had it replaced, also had it diagnosed with two bad injectors. I replaced them. Now I have blue smoke and lugging at start up, and blue smoke at upper RPMs when cool, but once it gets to operating temperature, smoke goes away. We also replaced the four glow plugs on that side. I've replaced the fuel filter and also a new fuel pump, about a month ago. Today, tried ATF in the fuel. When idling, it always has blue smoke. The truck is running great, finally, but just tons of smoke. The exhaust smells very rich, very raw diesel fuel smell. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.
No, didn't know to check the injector cups. I've heard the ICP could be bad. Maybe my fuel heater could be bad. Just scratching my head as to which way to look next. I've never heard of the injector cups, so I will look into that. Thanks.
I think you can rule fuel bowl heater out, when I rebuilt my bowl I found mine laying broken in there and threw it in the corner of garage, caulked conn. shut and see no difference.
