Programming an Extra Key

Programming an Extra Key
Just picked up an 11 5.0 F150 and I am trying to program a third spare key. So far no luck, anyone know if the PATS system changed in the 11 F150 vs the 10 F150? I had a key cut without the integrated fob, I was able to get the spare stand alone fob programed no problem but not the key.
I am inserting the two keys that came with the truck, first key to on position three, then remove put in the second key after three seconds the same way and then the third un-programmed key.

Thanks but I have tried this in accordance with the manual. I am looking to find out if anyone knows of any changs to the 2011 F150's PATS system to set it apart from other Fords.
To explain further the 10 F150 came with a PATS key and separate fob. I happen to prefer this type of key. I have a 12 Mustang and this came with a PATS key with the integrated fob. I was able to cut a key without the integrated fob and program into the Mustang.
I have tried the same with the 11 F150, the separate fob is now programmed and works fine but I can not get the key to program even if I follow the manual. I am hoping someone has a little bit more technical information on the pats system and possible changes.

I bought two blank keys, both without the fob (keyless buttons attached) They do say just "S" on them and the 12 Mustang and 11 F150 do say "SA". However one of the spare keys works fine in the Mustang but can not get it to program the in the truck.
Thanks, that is good to know may be a small problem on my end. Do you remember if you did anything special when programming it? I tried starting the truck between attempts to clear it out, doors open and closed but nothing. I know it is a long shot but maybe it is something small I am doing wrong.

Thanks, they did detect the chip. I guess I will need to to try a SA key. Still don't understand why a S key worked in a 10 F150 and 12 Mustang but not this new one.

So I bought another SA key and it worked fine. I do not understand why the S key would work in a 2010 F150 and 2012 Mustang but not the 2011 F150. If anyone plans to make a spare for an 11 plus F150 just make sure it is a "SA" key, it does not matter if the key has the keyless entry buttons or not.

This is what I was trying to find out, if the 2011 F150 has a different system then the 10. So you do know for sure that the system on the 150 was changed this year? Appreciate the info since I could not understand why a spare S key worked on the Mustang that came with SA keys but not the truck.
