I am looking at a getting a nice used 6.0L. But i have heard nothing but horror stories about these engines. One always seems to stand out. Something about the head gasket blowing at 100k wich seems to be why all the 6.0's i find are right under 100k. Does this mean they are getting rid of them before any major problems occur? I just need some of you guys to clear up some of these stories. I know you guys have heard and seen alot. I guess im just looking for some good info to ease my mind.

 

the 6.0 is not a terrible vehicle it's been made out to be. check our tech folders. they'll help u in ur maintenance. ask some of our senior guys like bismic, npccpartsman, etc. they'll tell u wat a wonder the 6.0 is. when i got mine, i didnt check and she came wif probs. moreover, i got conned by an independent ford mechanic and ended up paying bout 10k in repairs. always do ur homework on the 6.0 ur bout to buy. get an OASIS report from the ford dealership.

now tat my baby's up to standard, i jus continue to perform the required maintenance and she's running better than the day i bought her. exactly as i envisioned! the 6.0 is a superb running machine and i wouldnt trade her for anything in the world.

also, if u search around our folders, i believe there are spreadsheets informing u of wat to look out for and wat to test when buying ur 6.0.

i'm sure the other guys will chime in later but i thought i'd share some info wif u before the "big" guys come on in and give their opinions. i've learnt a lot from these guys. i'm sure u'll find their input helpful as well. best of luck!
