2005 Ford F-250 6.0 Diesel Anitifreeze Smell while driving
Hi for the past couple of weeks ive been smelling antifreeze from the cab of my truck. If the truck is idling or if i am driving on roads i do not smell it once i hit 40 mph or more on the highway i start to smell it.About a month ago i went upstate about 2 hours from my house.I went riding the next day i went to go start my truck it wouldnt start only cranking.I had it towed 2 hours back to my friends shop he got it started and only did a oil change.I dont know if the antifreeze problem has something to do with the not starting problem but i figured i put it down.If you guys have any idea why im smelling the antifreeze it would be a big help thank you.

6.0 antifreeze smell
A little trick I heard from a 6.0 owner. Rent a coolant system tester. Pressurize the system to 16 psi. check for leaks under the hood and below then if you don't find any have somebody start the truck. If you notice a coolant smell coming from the exhaust then you have a problem in the egr cooler sytem ( egr valve, cooler, etc).
Good Luck

First off Welcome to FTE
Park the truck Nose down and pull the EGR Valve look inside the EGR chamber in intake manafold for sign of coolant
Keep an eye on the coolant bottle for coolant leval and check it when you get home from ddriving it sometimes those coolant bottles crack along the Tank seam you may see it leaking from there
another thing to do is get some gauges I use a scangauge you will just about be able to check everything with it Mainly right now would be the oil cooler because of the symptoms and it can also tell you the FICM voltage you will want to check that along with the High Pressure Oil a HPO leak would also cause a no start and 05 is famous for that STC fitting going bad but its usually no start hot
Gauges is your besst bet cuz as you can see theres alot of diffrent ways this could go

Hi Guys I went to my friend and had him put his OBD11 computer on my truck these are the codes that came out P0528 Circut fan speed sensor NO signal P1000 OBD11 System checks Incomplete P1102 MAF LOWER IN RANGE THAN EXPECTED AND P1408 EGR FLOW OUT OF RANGE i figure that my antifreeze problem has something to do with egr since the code came up.
