Any of you with new front leaf springs

Can you give me a measurement from your frame or bump stops to the top of the spring pack? Dana 50. I'm getting Super Duty F450 springs for the rear of my truck, and installing them first. I want to see how much it raises the rear up from where it is now, then take that measurement to the front and get springs accordingly. My front springs are real close to the bump stops, and are worn out along with the rears. If I know how new ones sit for clearance I can put that number to use when figuring out what I want/need. If I can I just want to use stock replacement fronts. If not, I'll adjust.

Thanks guys.

1 3/4, mine are about 3/4 tops. Bump stops are getting hit quite often now. Rears are actually just touching the overloads with nothing in the bed. I like the idea of the 450 springs with hauling like I do, it should stabilize it more. They have a 5900 spring capacity according to that link you put up a while back and A-B dimensions are the same on the (A)front and only 5/8 difference on the rear (B).

I found a powerstroke junk yard, although a couple hundred miles away, getting prices and things figured out. Sounds like I should get a pretty good deal and delivered by someone who goes to votech school 20 miles away from me and works there.

Thanks Pete.

Any front shock recommendations and maybe a good place to buy new hangers for the rear SD springs, they are the same 3 inch but I think I need SD hangers to use them? Not sure about the rear shocks as its going to be pretty stiff. Basically I want good shocks for towing/hauling.

Thanks for the pics and help Pete.

Also thanks for the bump earlier Rock.

I thought the bolts were larger so you have to drill out the mounting holes. I can't recall any other modification necessary. On the rears anyway.

Does anybody know if support is support (leafs versus air bags)? Or are they completely different kinds of support and the way they support weight and absorb bumps?

I'm not sure Glenn, that is a good question I was wondering if there was a definite answer to also. I guess I like the known support of the springs over an air bag setup. It just feels to me like the truck is built more to accept the load.

I don't know....

Me neither

On Glenn's question but I do favor not having a compressor and something that may get a leak.

I personally am leaning towards this one at this time in my research.

Since it does not look like I will be up yr buying another pickup in the near future. Economy concerns. Maybe I will get me another after the Election.

Who knows

Anyhow here are the ones I am eyeing over new springs or leaf attachments.

But here is the catch-- cant see where they will fit my pu. and it says no 5er, Oh well Still looking

I also don't know Darin, I can see the leafs being a integal part of the pickup where as the air bags are a band aid? They have worked well for me though.

Rocky, I don't understand that link. It looks and sounds like a good system but why no 5er is beyond me. I've had my bags for almost five years now and they don't leak. If I want to pump them up my little Viair 12v does a great job.

I would think that the air bag setup would be good if you drove your truck around with no load part of the year like I do.
