My truck is making a clunk sound when I try to start it. Is this the starter?

Probably, turn your lights on and try. If when hearing the "clunk" and lights go out then it's probably batteries or a bad connection. If lights just dim a bit and you hear the "clunk" and the engine does not crank at all then it's probably the starter itself.

Best I can do without more information on circumstances leading up to this problem as that would be helpful.

Batteries are good. Clunk sounds like its coming from pass fender. Starter relay maybe? It ran out of fuel got fuel and tried to crank. It cranked ran about a second. I went to start it again and clunk...

Whuh, they're selling those as a gift package now? (Do the gauges include BAC? )

The newer BAC gauges have an IV hookup to better measure. I stick to the .8 and under gauge as we should not be driving our precious PSDs over that!

This has been the reason my truck has been sitting in the shop for most of December. Should be done by Monday once the rest of the parts get in. That was a fresh sample. Notice that it's still cloudy. Once it settles it would pile up on the entire bottom.
