Why does my SD hop and shake???

About a year or so ago when I put my winter tires back on for the second time, I noticed that my 2005 F250 5.4 started this hopping and shaking stuff. It hops right around 45mph but above that it pretty much goes away. Then when I get to like 65 or 70 mph I notice that the truck shakes, not really bad it's just enough to irritate you. My mechanic has been all over the front end of my truck since then, he's replaced things but nothing seems to change. I even had completly different set of basically highway tires on the truck and it still does the same thing. Does anyone know what might cause this or how I can fix it?

My truck is a 4X4 and this happens when the truck is in 2wd and with the hubs unlocked on the paved road. It has a little over 110,000 miles on it. I know the mechanic has replaced a few things in the front end but I'm not sure what all they were off hand.Nothing that he did ever really made much of a difference. I had it at an alignment shop last year andf they said that it was only a little out of alingment, not very much. I don't know if it has something to do with the wheels, i mean it sometimes takes a lot to balance the tires (they are just the stock steel rims).

Ok well that shot my thoughts all to heck, may want to jack it up and shake your wheels (hands at 3 and 9 and then at 6 and 12) this will check ball joints and bearings, also look into your U-joints and see if they are binding up, I know you said it is only in 2wd but they are spinning and everything in 2wd.

give that a go and see what happens.

this unit wouldn't have rear disc brakes would it???
If yes...then maybe....the emergency brake shoes are dislodged from where they are suppose to be and are binding up??

not saying that is the issue but ...might be good to check it out.

Other wise it might be a bent rim or bad tire?

agreed with checking U-joints....also check the transmission mount...make sure it is not loose.

Do you have Bilstein Shocks by any chance? My 02 CC 4X4 V10 started doing it about the same time I put new Bilstein's on 5yrs ago. Mine has a bad shake around 45MPH then goes away around 48MPH and never does it at any other speed.

It does have rear disc brakes. I'll have to check that stuff out.

As for the the suspension, it just has shocks from Advanced Auto. They are the decent ones that replace the factory shocks (still stock size and all). The shocks have been on for a little over a year now but the truck did this hopping and shaking stuff before I ever replaced the shocks.
