Oil sender/Switch conversion

I'm thinking of doing the real oil pressure sender mod and eliminate the switch that makes the guage work like an idiot light. What year sending unit do I need? I believe I need an extension to screw it into as well as it is bigger than the switch and won't fit in that location. Where would I get the extension from?

Not sure what years but the part is NAPA Echlin OP-6091... Any "decent" auto [parts should be able to cross that number to their brand..

I would say salvage yard for the extension to screw it into from any Ford 302/351 older than say 1986.

You can just tell the auto parts store you need a oil sender for say a 1977 F150.

Do not forget to jump the resister on the back of the cluster.

You may want to watch the video in this Thread:

Thanks for the info. The video showed using the 45 degree brass adaptor. That might be easier to find than the extension from a junk yard. I'll look and see if that is the solution. I just changed to a tach cluster so might as well make the oil pressure real too.

I got my adaptor at the Ford dealer - I asked for one for a 1965 Mustang 289. I used a sending unit for a 1987 Bronco.

I know this is an older post, but what model would I need to get a sending unit from for my 300 inline?

1987, like I said. It should be bigger around and taller than the one you take out. It's kinda bell-shaped. It doesn't matter what motor - I took the one out of my 300 Six and screwed it into the 460 I put in it's place - works fine.
